Also known as a life vest, the defibrillator vest possesses integrated sensors and electrodes, giving it a similar appearance to a standard life vest. The wearer’s heart rhythm is continuously monitored by these sensors, and in the event of a potentially fatal arrhythmia, the vest shocks the wearer back to normal. Wearable technology offers an ongoing barrier of protection without requiring assistance from others, and this is especially helpful for people who are at high risk of suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.   • Non-invasiveness: Defibrillator vests are non-invasive and don’t require any surgical intervention, in contrast to implantable defibrillators, which must be placed through an operation. 
  • Temporary protection: This device offers temporary protection, when someone is at high risk, like after a heart attack or while awaiting further medical interventions.
  • Continuous monitoring: The system continuously monitors the person’s heart rhythm, and is capable of quickly delivering an electrical shock to restore normal cardiac rhythm if it detects a potentially fatal arrhythmia.
